I just ordered a 2013 F350 Crew Cab 4x4 LB SRW w/ the camper package. I installed the front bed camper mount on my '97, but was not 100% sure how the new trucks would mount - Frame rails? Since I ordered the camper pkg, will it in include any mounts? If not, any suggestions as to best option, and where I can find?
Also, if anyone has the camper pkg on a newer crew cab LB SRW w/ a 2,500 + dry weight cab over - Are you happy w/ the stability? Or do you feel you still need air bags or other? I have a 10.6 Bigfoot w/ basement, so sits pretty high.
Hey Winemaker, I just bought a 2012 F250 Scab SRW w/camper package for use with a pop-up slide in truck camper. I can tell you that your truck won't come with tie downs included. The camper package consists of a spring upgrade and a rear sway bar. You also get a sheet of paper in your glove box that says Ford recommends Your truck for use with a slide in camper. should be able to mount Torklift tie downs without doing any drilling. I will be using ratchet straps with the tie down loops in the truck bed.
I have the same air bag questions as you. I think their value is in being able to level side to side and front to back. There are devices available that bring the overload springs into play a little earlier. I think they would increase stability and improve cornering. Reason: added more info.
Definitely, going to be looking into those. I always thought that the truck manufacturers themselves would have offered an adjustable pad that would ascend or descend based on your payload to maximize both comfort and stability.
