My 2009 F-250 is completely stock. It came with 275/70/18's from the factory. Is this the largest tire I can run without doing any modifications to the suspension? Please help. Thanks in advance
275/70-18 tires, this size in load range E is the tallest commonly available A-T tire for 18 inch rim.
I have seen nothing that is taller with a similar load rating.
I have seen 35-12.50 -18 tires in load range D that are about 1.5 inches taller, but only If you can take the reduced capacity, these should fit, check clearances on front axle at full steering lock to verify. Then park truck diagonal across a ditch and look at clearances with suspension compressed. this is a link to a size chart from General Tire on Grabber ATs Grabber AT2
Do some homework, then talk to the guys at your local tire shop.
If you can deal with decreased carrying capacity there are lots of options.
good luckCheers.
I run 295/70/18s (34x11.5") that have a 4080# load rating, you don't have to give up capacity just by going to a bigger tire size. You might not find every tire you want in a given size with an E rating, but as long as the numerical load index is 119 or higher you really aren't losing anything regardless of the letter/ply rating.
Back spacing on the wheel is just as important as nominal tire size. 35x12.50s would be a close fit on stock wheels with probably only light rubbing, but if you put them on aftermarket rims spaced out further, you'll need a 2-4" kit depending on how far out you go. 34x11.50 clears stock on stock, 35x12 is probably the theoretical upper limit before variation in manufacturer sizing makes fitment hit or miss.
Im running 295 70 18 tires on 18 x 9 -12 offset wheels. The tires clear fine and I think 35's will too as their not much bigger than the 295's. Looks wise I wont go any bigger without a small lift.
Thanks guys, both your trucks look great. What brand tire are you running in 295/70/18?
TexasTech, what brush guard do you have on yours. I like the looks of it, its nice and heavy and goes well with the truck
