TIRE SIZE EQUALS?????
245 is the section width in millimeters. It is 245/25.4 = 9.64 inches wide. 245 times 70 percent is your sidewall height. The sidewall is 245 * .7 = 171.5 millimeters tall, or 171.5/25.4 = 6.75 inches tall. The height of the tire equals the rim height plus two sidewall heights, or 15 + 6.75 + 6.75 = 28.5 inches. So it is a 28.5x9.6R15 in flotation tire size notation. Of course the actual size of the tire varies from this a little, normally shorter by a little bit. The smallest normal size that tires are rated in flotation tire size is 30x9.50, which fits just fine on an F150 by the way, just a bit taller than stock. Unless you like the look of a little wider tire, I would get some 235/75R15's (28.9x9.25R15) or 30x9.5R15's as they should be cheaper, and alot bigger selection of tires are available. 245/70R15 is kindof an odd size, mainly only used on F150's and Jeep Grand Cherokee's so that they looked a little more sporty from the factory.
