86 Bronco II shifting problem

I've been having some issues with the automatic transmission lately. It seems that when the truck gets hotter the tranny fluid boils out and empties itself of all the fluid. After it cools down and fluid is added it runs fine. After the most recent episode you have to let off the throttle to get it to shift to the next gear. In older trannies the vacuum modulator was the culprit, looked underneath for one on this truck and couldn't find one. Does it have one and where would it be? Also, there is a wire connector hanging down near the tranny on the driver's side and I can't tell where the heck it goes. It is close to the fuel filter area on the frame rail.
