cmp sensor

Have a explorer made 3/96, can anyone tell were this is located on motor, have a haynes repair manual and it shows for the v-8,4.0sohc motor but not the 4.0 pushrod motor.

Hi drive shaft and welcome to FTE

The CMP is at the back of the engine, up top, behind the intake manifold.

cmp sensor

You may have to remove the coil pack to get at it. It's very hard to reach.

There's a test procedure for it, if you're not sure whether it's working or not.
