dome light timing

dome light timing
Need help from you 'lelectric' experts. Please?
'09 E-250. When ANY of the doors are opend, and left open, the dome lights stay on for 9 minutes and 15 seconds, then turn off.
Lets say 9 minutes into that cycle, the door switch is tripped, (for whatever reason) that 9 min 15 sec cycle is repeated,,,,,,,, over and over, untill the battery goes dead.
I teach the motorcycle safety course here. I use this van for my teaching supplies and such. The back doors are left open all day, because I'm in and out constantly.
It's impractial to just turn the three dome lights off at each light switch. That takes care of the daytime, but at night I can't see to turn the lights back on when they are really needed.
I would like to erase the "9 minutes" off the timing cycle.
I have been to a couple of dealers, they say "No way" they will change the timing cycle. I guess they won't/can't change something the 'factory' did,,,,,,,,(?)
My question; Who, what, where, do I go, to to get the computer interior lights timing re-set, please!?

My 02 Quigly has a "Dome Light Overide" switch on the dash. I can bypass the dome lights completly. maybe someone here can help with the wiring.
Maybe find the dome light feed from the headlight switch and put a switch in it.
