So last Friday night I was at my high school's football game and the security guards came in and reported a light on in my truck. So me and the fiance' walked out there and i noticed my grill was busted in so i though somebody backed in to me. She opened up the passenger door to find out they had stolen her purse, my 2 week old Pioneer navi unit, My Glock which was in the center console and a few other things. Little did I know they had cut my hood release cable and cut my battery cable thinking I had an alarm. (which even if i did they only cut one cable).
Well ofcourse now I am going to have security like fort Knox and I was just trying to get some folks input on security systems and devices you are using to keep them out of your vehicles. Ive been looking at the python 594 (viper 5094, same system and manufacturer but the python remotes look a little better). any input would be greatly appreciated.

Very simple; don't leave stuff in your vehicle. They must have seen or known about something.
What was showing? Maybe somebody knew about the gun and why even bring it with you to a game? I never have things showing and never get broken into. If I have something valuable I hide it. Correction; It did bet broken into one time because I had some fender washers showing that looked like quarters. My wallet, credit cards, cash, and cell phone were in there but hidden. You don't need your gun every second, most people never need a gun........ever
The main point of entry is normally the easy to pry door locks, so some JimmiJammers are in order for you.
The alarm does a great job of spooking them and scaring them off. November 2009 and again January 2012, it scared off some would be thieves that thought my truck didn't have an alarm.
I've since cut my door locks so they can't get in either way. The only way in is to smash the window, set the alarm off, and draw attention to yourself.

Unfortunate but it was your own fault and that gun will probably be used in a crime now.
My wife's Ex has been broken into 4 times over the last 3 years; every time they have busted one of the door handle locks. The last two times have been within the last 3 months; the first time they stole my wife's purse, daughter's Tinkerbelle backpack, and the Jensen flip-out dvd screen in the dash. The second time was even dumber, they just stole a radar detector and two phone chargers. I've finally had enough. I'm having my wife go get a Clifford CS5000 installed. Instead of a bulky key fob in your pocket it uses your smart phone to control the alarm and it also comes with a key fob for valet use. Granted it's really pricey and there is a yearly fee, but i'm tired of this crap.

They will break in for almost nothing but rarely for nothing at all unless you leave the vehicle out somewhere by itself.
There was a suv loaded down with stuff and stuck in the snow for 3 months near here and snowmobilers constantly passed by it including me and I finally helped the guy out but it never got broken into. (not the same crowd).

Listen I didn't start this thread to have a gun debate. I am a licensed concealed carry permit holder, I follow the laws and jump through the hoops I have to in order to exercise my constitutional right. My gun was in my vehicle because I carry for work and other reasons that I do not have to explain. It is NOT my fault that my vehicle was broken into. I was at a high school football game in my hometown. Not parking in a high crime area where it was a concern of my vehicle being messed with. I started this thread to get peoples input on what type of security devices they use to keep people out of there vehicles, not to be told its my fault. SO i would greatly appreciate it if you would not hijack my thread and keep your opinions to yourself.

Mine was broken into about a month ago. Brick through a side window. The Viper paid for itself in that while a couple of hundred dollars is tools were stolen in a bag near the window some much more pricier tools were not.
I could not hear the alarm from the vehicle inside the house but the remote alerted me and I was outside within about 15 seconds. Although armed I made a point of turning on the lights and making noise while exiting.
Attempts had been made before to punch in the plastic lock covers. I had also installed the Jimmijammers and metal door handle systems.

I was thinking about not replacing the lock and instead putting a plate of aluminum there to block it but my only concern was what happens if the battery dies and I cant unlock the doors?

It's part of the debate and I don't care if you have a cc permit, I never leave things like that in my vehicle. Probably other stuff showing too. ........partly your fault, just admit you screwed up.
You want the best security system? Use mine, the nothing showing one.

That isn't the point of this thread, I asked you nicely to please keep your opinions to yourself.
Thieves are the worst. Sorry to hear they got away with your stuff and damaged your truck. I think train horns hooked up to an alarm system would make them run, especially if the train horns were mounted inside the vehicle. Maybe have it hooked up to a separate hidden battery so when they cut the main battery line, they get really surprised. A lot of money and time but would be awesome to see them running away deaf.
