I have a very broad interest in cars and trucks. All years, all makes and all models including off-brand. ...So I visit and participitate in alot of vehicle oriented websights.
I am a member of a certain Chevy sight too .
The overall attitude there is just....BAD !
Negetive responses to anything.
No sense of humor a'toll.
They are always brawling, hardly ever talk 'trucks' there.
The atmosphere here is refreshingly breathable.
The MoPar sights are, overall, cordial.
The IHC sights are quite friendly too.
Or any other antique car sights for that matter.
But those "Shivie Guys" just seem to be a little volitile.
One thing I've noticed...Fords trucks are the only ones out of the "Big 3" that actually seem to love being a 'TRUCK' !
That's why I will always have a 1967 F-250. 352+4 speed NP!
we get a few of those "Shivie guys" over here tryin to start trouble. Our administrators and moderators are pretty quick in dealing with them.... I love this site, lots of info for any make or model of Ford Truck....
Agreed. I get a lot of that "Shivie Guy Attitude" in my daily business, not on the internet. Most of the guys that work at the local Advance auto parts drive chibbies, and they are always going on about how wonderfull they are and how much ford sucks. Now I go to Napa. Theres a guy there that used to have a truck about the same year mine is, so he knows what I'm talking about when I ask for a part. It's farther to drive, but it's worth it.
Originally posted by MW95F250 I notice that there's always a shivvy at Advance with the hood up.
Wanna make money? Sell Chevy parts!
Thats great! I see that here too. Yet the guys that work there swear by them. Maybe they're smarter than they look, by promoting them, they get to sell more parts!!
Yea sometimes them Shivie Boys sure can talk bad about Ford..I don't care, a trucks a truck....If you get a lemon then well put it in some tea and remember no company is perfect...
But I must say that I see Fords in the fields more often..They sure do last long and are real good in the rough terrian..
Personally, being a "Shivie Guy" myself, I must say Ive ran into people on all sides of the arguement, and some anr much more agreeable than others. Personally, I have come to accept the fact that ford trucks last longer, and are typically better bulit. I started my truck driving/tooling in a IH scout 800 B and that is truely a feat of engineering. It currently is still in the family, not a dent on it, and has 148 thousand miles on it. Better yet, all that has been replaced on it is the battery, even the water pump and all the hoses are the original ones. It still chugs away.
My ford has had nothing but low cost matinance things since I got it, just the typical alternator, radiator, and the like, mostly from my own abuses. I don't think I would ever buy a chevy again, seems as the Camaro was discontinued but I will be sure to get another ford truck when (if) my onld one ever dies. My blazer is a piece, rust and an old diesel are what comprise that wonder of engineering. Some imes I am amazed the wheels have not fallen off, as the whole thing was built poorly with $$$ in the eyes of the engineers (God how I hate the 700R4).
Enough of my ranting...
You have a guy like me, WHo being raised mostly around chevy vehicles and owning 4, Who Buys an Expedition because he cant Afford a suburban, and a Tahoe Is just a wee bit too small.
After Spending nearly 4,000 dollars on Repairs whch are not limited too a new trannny, rebuilt transfer, air conditioning sytem, tie rod ends, ball joints, 3 sets of brakes, and a leaking head in 45,000 miles, I think I should Have Sprung. Not to Mention the 2 SHOS I had, One of Which was perfect, no Problems, which Is why I felt safe to buy number 2, which was an electrical disaster.
Throw In the Numerous rattles and the way those lovely air conditioning vents keep popping out onto people laps in the back seat.. Oh well I like the way It looks, and Im stuck with it for a while, So I may as well Learn to love it

Being in highschool alot of the group I hang in (Popular) most of the guys like to badmouth ford. Me being the bigest and strongest one (Football player Ya Know) I just say if you only Knew. But the argment finally stoped when I raced a 1994 Chev 350 with 100,000 miles on it. He said my 1994 F-150 didnt have a chance I looked at him and shook my head. We started out I didnt floor it he did he spun his wheels. I took of then slowed down beside him he was redlining his engine and said fix or repair daily hugh. So then I florred and got 100 yards in front of him and his tailpipe started to emit smoke then he jusst stoped.
So My asumption is that chevy guys seem to need to talk bad about ford to make them fell good for buying a bad product. Oh ya After the race nobady has baded mouth ford in front of me again.
And lets look at the engine. The 350 had never been worked just street driven.
the 302 has benn worked hard pulling horse trauilers and old tractors. And ya know something when I clean her all up she always comes out looking like new thats a ford product ladies and gents.Got a little carried away didnt I
I also have a asumption chevy guys seem to be compensating for something dont know what but just a thought
Around here it seems like the die-hard chev guys wouldn;t know a real truck if it bit 'em in the butt. I can easily stomp almost any older chevy truck with my heavy van..... But then again it does have a few mods, what I'm not sure yet, but a few. I will know when I tear it down to rebuild the motor in a year..... ( wanna get over the 200k mile mark first)...
I don't think anything is missing on chevys thats important, and I definatly have no lack of anything that comes to mind, but Ill be glad to say that the only problem with my truck from the factory was circled, and bright blue, so as not to be overlooked. That problem is difficult to solve, however a chev 350 fixed it just fine
Now, if only chevy made real trucks like they did back in the day...
I know for a fact if I had gotten a Chevy, I'd be asking for rides and going to the junkyard looking for good replacement engines, just ask a friend of mine who's engine blew in his blazer at 90k. That would cause me to get that dreaded chevy guy attitude.

I was the giver of rides for my Chevy biased friends. Two have gone through 6 Chevy trucks between the two of them. One got a whole summer's worth of cruising in "old reliable" after he blew the th350 in his camaro with only a 307. They all know better than to badmouth my truck. When they needed a ride, it never let them down.
Thought you guys would like this:
It is my friend's little brother's 88 Chevy 4x4. He blew up the 10 bolt rear drag racing it the same day I had my truck at the track. His truck is STOCK btw. He sold it and bought a 90 F-250 diesel to tow his race car with. Never send a Chevy to do a Fords work.
Pat,
I'm sure i've seen that picture of your red 67 shorty in the F-Sereis Registry. Mine is in there too.
I have similar stories about my Chevy-bound friends. They go through trucks like strike anywhere matches. When the question "Hows yer Ford runnin?" comes up, my answer is "So, your truck is down again and you need my Ford's help again??
