I've got a few Chevy buddies and truck talk is rare. They usually don't know any specs on their own trucks let alone anyone else’s and when you ask them what they don't like about Fords they say "they're junk" and if you try to get them to elaborate they say "they're just junk" so I ask them what makes Chevy so great to which they reply " they're awesome" and this usually brings the conversation to an end.
All the truck guys i know i know from highschool so we get along realy well. Of course there is the occasionall ford crack (i drive the only ford in the group) but they are a nice set of guys, and the one chevy website im on (coloradok5.com) is also a great set of guys. But i must say i have had my fair share of encounters whith rude people (mostly jeep and toyota people though)
But i probly dont catch alot of the flak you guys do becouse my primary truck is my little luv which has a bowtie on it, chevy just couldnt make a mini truck so they hired Isuzu
When I was in High school my 84 F150 got bad mouthed all the time cause it only had a 6 cylinder engine in it. There were a couple guys with 4.3 V6 powered Chebby pickups they would bash me so bad for my 90 mph top speed. But they would tuck tail and run when I changed them to a tug of war. I couldn't even get the guys with 350s to hook bumpers. One time I was out 4 wheeling and came across one of these "unstoppable" 4x4 Chebbys sitting on it's frame in mud. When I pulled him out, the only thing the reluctant owner could say was "Da#^ that Ford is like a tractor with a pickup body on it!" A Ford Truck is the only real work horse we have left.

Edited for all Caps
What you say here about says it all for the bad mouthers of Fords. Nothing to back up their ignorance..'cept more ignorance.
And yet This Whole thread is about BASICALLY badmouthing Chevy's? So Tell Me, what DONT you like About Chevy's. Do you Think that there are not CHEVY people out there giving rides to FOrd people who have Broken Down Trucks? I know the last 4 times my FORD was in the Shop I had to rely on a chevy to Transport me to work. Ive said It before, For everyone out there with A ford Swearing off Chevy Reliability, there is A Chevy Owner Who has had terrible Luck With Ford Products, and No problems With his truck?
Everyone Makes Fun of the 6.0 piston Slap Chevy? How bout making fun of the WELL Documented head problems that leaked on the 5.4, Or How about the Plugs Blowing out of the Cylinder?
Id be terrified to get a 98-00 Ford with a 5.4 in it after reading everything about them in the EXPY forum. Chevy Has its Problems In the truck market, but By NO means are Ford vehicles Perfect Either. As for someone saying maybe the chevy guy attitude is compensating for a lack of something else? Well I guess theres a heck of alot of compensating going on in this thread then isnt there?
My use of the word "ignorance" was intended for ALL folks who do nothing but say stupid things about the other guys vehicle. Sayings like Fords suck, Chevys suck or whatever.... my intent was for people to mellow out when talking about the other guys rig and not to act as ignorant as the people they dislike for being ignorant. If I offended you, sorry bout that... wasn't my intent.
I've only owned one Chevy in my life and blew it up the first time I hot rodded it. Ive never blown up a Ford no matter what I put it throughand believe me, I like to hear an engine scream.. or used to anyway. I have had my share of problems with my older beasts. The worst being spum cam bearings in the 292 I had in my 55 Ford Panel. But for the most part, I have had incredibly good luck with every Ford I have ever owned, therefore, I am a VERY devoted Ford man.
I have had both Ford and GM trucks - personally and in fleet service. They all have their "quirks". Once one learns to deal with each type of vehicle they all give good service for a long time.
I have run into similar arguments with many people about what is better. And they say "Fords are junk" or vice versa, when I ask the to explain why they think this way they are never able to come out with a concrete explaination of which is better. I have owned 1 Dodge, no Chevys ( worked on several though) , and currently own 2 Ford trucks. So far Ford has my vote.

The stiff ride, and yet still can't haul a decent load.
The trannmission self destructs at 95k miles (have seen 2 do it at the same place , with the same EXACT milage)
That's it, my Ford's is smooth and hauls like you wouldn't belive.
the things i dont realy like about chevies is the 1/2ton treucks weak axles. Alot of the chevy 4x4 people compare the 9" (our half ton axle) to the 14 bolt corprate (thier 1ton axle), so that right there kinda sums up why i like my ford. That and theres the fact that it has a big six in it.
But for the most part i still think its all in who is turning the wrench.
73-87 4wds all had weak frames, they crack right where the steering box bolts to the frame. And the mounting brackets where the leaf spring shackles bolt on rust out and crack easily, especially in the rear. Nearly every 4wd Chevy I see that is lifted "dog tracks" when it goes down the road. There bodies rust out faster, doors, rocker panels, cab corners, floor boards, cab supports, box floors, tail gates, bed sides. The frontends on 2wd Chevys can't stand up the abuse that old twin I beam will! Need I say more?
i own a 87 f-150 with the 4.9 i-6. i pulled a 93 chevy 4x4 backwards while hooked bumper to bumper. the driver got p$## off and locked his 4x4 in. guess what??? i was still pulling wim backwards!!!! all he could talk about was vortec 350 this and vortec 350 that till i finally had to show him. and no i did not outweigh him, his was extended cab, mine is reg cab shortbed. but he did outrun me in the quarter mile! by a tenth of a second. not bad for an old 300 with over 150000 miles on it. i love watching all the chevy truck guys throw some 33to 35 inch tires on there rigs and think the 10bolt axles will hold up!!LOL
yes the wonderfull 10bolt axle. Thgos things are horible, then theres the gov lock thats suposed to be a possi unit. Guess what it does... It blows up realy well
But my one complaint about my f-150 is wiring, i hat electrical to begin whith then this thing has wires everywhere
