Me VS Turbo
Things Im SOOOO glad I had for this job:
1. Magnetic pickup tool for all the dropped nuts and bolts!
2. Zip-ties for...well....tying stuff to stuff
3. Mirror
4. Top-side creeper. That thing has been amazing!
5. Friendly neighbors!
6. Good tools with extensions, adapters, and swivels
7. Air tools
And last but not least....ALL OF YOU. Collectively you all hold the title of Ford Senior Grand-Master Black Belt Tech! If we didn't have the internet...I would have killed someone long ago! Rock on!
Today I got everything hooked up and got ready for the moment of truth.
I refilled the coolant, and refilled the oil (rotella t-6) through the oil filter housing...also added archoil modifier.
Oh and while I was doing this stuff I also installed the blue spring upgrade and a coolant filter.
So I went to fire it up. After about two minutes of intermittent cranking it finally fired up! It was running rough and threw an ECT sensor failure code that I read through my scangauge.
No leaks and everything looked good, so I took it for a spin and came back. Still running rough and not registering ECT. Popped the hood. Noticed I forgot to plug in that sensor....DUH! ECT Problem fixed. Then I looked at all the injector sensor plugs. The one on the drivers side looked slightly not as flush as the others, so I reinstalled and reinstalled the retaining clip...fired it up again. It purrrrreeedd! Very nice. And I was getting full Boost! Im a happy camper (so far)!
Blue spring upgrade:
Before: 53PSI IDLE
46 WOT
AFTER: 65PSI IDLE
62 WOT
ECT/EOT Deltas
Before: 16 difference @ 80 temp outside during test run 8 difference putting around
After: 8 difference @ 85 temp outside during test run 2 difference putting around
Happy with it!
All of that messing with the turbo paid off I guess. Got about 29-30 boost after reinstall.
