Trailer hitch question

My '07 Edge SEL has a 3500# factory hitch with a 1.25 reciever. I want to tow a 1500lb boat. Is this hitch ok? It looks cheap to me. Can I replace it with a class 3 4000# hitch and 2" receiver? Would that be any better?

I'd stick with the Class II. It's what we plan to add to our 09 Limited to haul a 1,800# trailer.

The factory hitch is plenty for your application.
