One of the codes I'd been getting consistently was that the Bank 1 Sensor 1 O2 sensor was malfunctioning, so I decided to go ahead and change it. Once I got the wheel well out and got up in there amongst it all, I found that the sensor wasn't even connected, and the connector (sensor end) was CHEWED UP! WTH?? I'm really getting fed up with the people that worked on this truck before.
I'd been using that page as a guide to what I was gonna be doing, but I didn't realize that I'd have all the crap going to the rear air in my way. The A/C lines keep the trans fill tube from being movable enough to take out. Not that I care about the rear air at the moment, but I don't want to rip them out and add expense to the A/C repair cost later. (NOT looking forward to that estimate) And with the trans tube still hanging around, I can't get the o2 socket (crowfoot style) to move onto the back of the sensor.
Has anyone just taken a regular 7/8" crowfoot wrench and been able to get it out?
Finally got the thing changed. Had to get a regular crowfoot wrench and use fingers from both the bottom and the side to get it slipped on. Took the better part of an hour to get my extension in there with enough grip to break it loose. Got the new one on and the best I could do was get it finger (pushing on wrench-head) tight. So it probably wasn't tight enough but I just couldn't push it enough to get the ratchet connected. Probably have to deal with that later. Started it up and I didn't hear any leaks. I'll take it for a drive later on and see it the light comes back on.
Oh, and the old sensor looked like it had been through a war and the plug was half melted.
