My truck has been hard to start after sitting, it doesn't matter matter if it's cold or warm outside. It takes a good 3 seconds before it turns over and does it's usual high rev and then drop down to normal idle thing.
I can do a half crank and then a full crank and get an almost instantaneous start. Because of that, I feel it's not related to the fuel pressure. Also because I can prime it all I want and it still take 3 seconds to start. Sometimes the idle surges and almost always after say driving to a store, coming back, starting it and then putting into gear I get a rough idle.
I've replaced the fuel filter last week and dumped Sea Foam in the gas. My mpg increased slightly, but that's it.
Googling suggests a possible bad pickup coil or MAP sensor? But the truck runs like a top otherwise.
Last tune up was about 12,000 miles ago... But even after first installing the new rotor, cap, plugs, and wires it did this exact issue.
I have the exact same issues with my 302. I have replaced everything sensor related. And after $200 later it still does it. I did a fuel pressure test and pressure is fine. I am now putting in new injectors in bhopes it does something. Other than that I will be lost. I have replaced everything with oem motorcraft and still no fix.
When cold, mine fires right off. After warm, it takes a few cranks to get it to fire most times. It's had a good tune up, everything checked and rechecked and works fine, truck runs fine. Still hard start when warm(most times).
Had the same issue this weekend, but its also the first time I used the rear tank since I bought the truck two weeks ago. Thought it might be an issue with the lines draining back on that tank or something.
I'm not sure but, that's the last thing I'm thinking of. Seems to come up alot when I google it. However, when a pickup coil goes bad it causes the car to not run. Maybe we're catching it early?
