Hi Crew, been here for sometime and now is the time.
been getting crazy codes for a truck I just bought my son ( 1st truck )
it's a 1999 f-150 4.2 auto, to make a long story short I change down stream o2's fix the elbow ( pcv ) Egr Iis good and well I just found that the wire harness from the trans and rear 02's was melted !! where else the manifold! , my question is ( junk yard, or new and if new where to get it ? and that's it crew. YOU all have great info on here, and oh and yes after i pulled the harness out like 7 wires where either broke or melted so I feel I have found my open issue
OK harness changed out 22 bucks, now getting p0136 which I all ready changed the sensor downstream bank 1 so now my thought is that with the melted harness could this have screwed up the new sensor ? anyone have input on this I don't have my ohm's meter @ home
ohm's meter was a good tool the 02 sensor was dead change that out and the truck is new again so for everyone that is chasing codes make sure you check out your transmission wire harness before dumping money into things you don't need major area to look at is the firewall area on the passenger side.
