910 springs

Read Joe's remark to high mileage..etc on a motor, in regards to a BP-brake. Instead of hijacking the thread, i'd figure i'll throw it out.

Can these springs be installed anytime, and installed on a stock motor? What are the benefits of them, with a stocker motor...etc/ thanks.

They help to decrease the chances of valve float at higher RPM's.

i would think they could go on a stock motor just fine. all they do is hold more pressure on the valves.

Most guys install them when they change the turbo. Some say it helps with the higher boost levels. They say a valve can stay open to long with all that pressure and higher RPM's. Same with the install of a higher lift cam.

Dunno, but someone did an AWESOME write-up with photos when Mueckster did his 910 springs. Might want to contact him to borrow his patented "McTool."

Ok, but does different hp/tq #'s come into play? My stocker motor delivers 3k+ rpms at 500+ tq, is these numbers producing valve float?

Valve float is a boost/back pressure issue.

You could have a crap turbo making 25# of boost but 80psi of drive pressure float an exhaust valve ( extreme but making a point) or you can be making 40-50psi and float an intake valve.

An exhaust brake will increase the likelihood of valve float, which is why I suggested the springs. Make sure you shim them at install. I believe Swamps has a write up on there site, but I dare not link to a "non" sponsor...

could be get'n somewhere now, Joe. With what you say, how can a valve float be fixed? With new springs? Reason being, i blew up my turbo with the 10k mod, get'n on it, and when it let loose, i was on the go-pedal, rocketing my rpms. Since then, no matter what i tried..turbo, new cac boots..etc, can not exceed 12psi boost??? Thanks man.

Valve float is not a constant issue. You can have weak valve springs allow valve float at lower PSI's but not have any other runability issues.

12psi boost should be about 18-20psi drive pressures on a stock turbo, I doubt your issue is valve float.
