Most guys install them when they change the turbo. Some say it helps with the higher boost levels. They say a valve can stay open to long with all that pressure and higher RPM's. Same with the install of a higher lift cam.
You could have a crap turbo making 25# of boost but 80psi of drive pressure float an exhaust valve ( extreme but making a point) or you can be making 40-50psi and float an intake valve.
An exhaust brake will increase the likelihood of valve float, which is why I suggested the springs. Make sure you shim them at install. I believe Swamps has a write up on there site, but I dare not link to a "non" sponsor...

could be get'n somewhere now, Joe. With what you say, how can a valve float be fixed? With new springs? Reason being, i blew up my turbo with the 10k mod, get'n on it, and when it let loose, i was on the go-pedal, rocketing my rpms. Since then, no matter what i tried..turbo, new cac boots..etc, can not exceed 12psi boost??? Thanks man.
