Mirror Cap Question

I'm looking at a Lariat with the all black mirrors. I want to paint the caps red to match the truck later on. Can I take the caps off of the all black mirrors like you can on the chrome capped ones?

Or would you have to mask the mirror and paint it?

What year? I know on the 99-07 you can, not sure on the newer ones, someone else would have to help you out there.

It will be on a 2013. I'm assuming they are the same as the 2008 to 2012.

I know the painted caps were separate pieces as were the chrome caps...I'm just not sure if the all black mirror caps are separate or molded as one piece.

Anyone? Guys who painted theirs, was it one that was chrome before?

You'd have to buy new chrome mirrors and then buy the paint to match caps. The black mirrors are all one piece.
