I have a 99 ranger with a 2.5L 4 cylinder engine with 13k miles on it mostly city driving. Often when I push the throttle the engine almost stalls and slowly accelerates with a low growling sound. The fuel filter has been changed by the dealer during servicing. Does anyone have any suggestions? The dealer wanted a 100 bucks for his suggestions because the truck is one month out of warranty.
The first thing I would do is scan for codes. Autozone, or Advance Auto will do this for free for you. If there are no codes,
then I would try cleaning the MAF sensor.
That sounds like you're starting in second or third...I didnt think they came on rangers but some trannys have a switch that allows a driver to start from second gear...
that would explain the growling..
I dont really know though.
