Alright guys, im hopin I can pick your brains here. Im new to 5ers in the light truck so Id like some advise. To start with Ill be runnin an 85 f350 SRW, a 5.9l 12v Cummins with a zf6speed, 37/12.5/16.5 military tires and a 2" lift, airbags, and 4 wheel disc brake convertion. I want to pull this rv http://www.sunnybrookrv.com/Series/BristolBay/Specifications.aspx model 3420BH. Id use the B&W turnover/companion hitch. Am I lookin for trouble or am I safe with this setup? Ill be doin alot of mountain passes bein from Colorado.
i think it would do ok it won't win any races like that but those 12v cummins are STOUT if it has any problems pulling it just drop a couple tire sizes
Well there are several reasons for the military 37s including cost and weight rating. Id probly do gears before tires. So as far as trailer stability goes Ill be alright with the added height of the truck?
should be.... a buddy of mine pulls a 35 footer with a 76 f250 4x4 with same tires and a 460 he has a 4 inch body lift and a 6 inch suspension lift he runs 4.56 gears so the height shouldn't be a problem and your drive train should be plenty tough but changing tires is a hell of a lot easier than changing gears but when in doubt you do have 6 gears to play with
That is the idea, thank you for the late night response. Im sure the weight ratings will all be fine in the end and the Cummins will give me the power and reliability I need. So that really rounds out my theories.
i work night shift on a drilling rig and on my days off i still tend to stay up till 3 or 4 and besides i am babysitting a giant pot of chili my wife made i gotta keep stirring it .........
