i just lifted my ford f150 4 inches and im looking for some advice on tires. first, can i stuff 35's under my truck if i do some trimming? how much will they rub? second, i need something decent on the street, but still wheelable. off road performance is a higher priority obviously, but i dont want something like boggers. some of my current choices are:
BFG mud terrains, Super Swamper TrXuS MT, Mickey Thompson Baja Claws, and Pro Comp MT's.
any other suggestions? also any words of praise or warning about these tires?
I personally like the 35" or 37" Toyo Open Country's or if your looking for more aggressive, go with the Toyo MT's. Look sweet, ride good, and last long. I guess it depends on your year for trimming. I have a friend with a 4" lift and 37" baja claws (f150) and he didnt do any sort of trimming.
If you run 35 or bigger you really need between 4.10 and 4.56 gears. I have 32 inch tires and I need 4.10 gears to put me back to where I was with the 3.55s and stock tires. I think your best of with nothing larger than 33s with a 4 inch lift. A friend of mine had a 95 F150 4x4 with a 6 inch lift and 35s that worked well.
i'm running 36's with a 6 in. lift and i could possibly fit 38's but it'd be tight i'm sure that you could fit 35's with 4 inches. i had 33 in bfg. all-terrains with no lift before i got the 6 in.
