I am looking for either NOS or Aftermarket "Steering Column Release Lever"
In My '89 XLT 5.0L 5Spd 2WD , the tilt wheel is actuated by pushing back on the Turn Signal Lever which pushes against this "Steering Column Release Lever" ( Dealer Name ) , which in turn lifts a tab at the center of the column to allow the wheel to tilt up and down , I am guessing it has some type of **** on the lever end that must break due to age , anyway I need that part , the dealer says no longer available , so is there a aftermarket version , I tried Dorman and no luck finding a listing , does anyone know of a aftermarket make or particular distributor of NOS , or is this something I would have to repair myself by modifying , going to go to the dealer tomorrow and print a pic so I can at least see what it is supposed to look like , if anyone has a pic and or part # that would help if you do not know where I can get one .
Are you talking inside the column or external, and the lever you put your hand on and push backwards.
If its external, it's just a regular turn signal lever with a plastic flared end pressed on the end of it. Any one from junkyard should fit if it is from a ford.

It is internal , it is the lever that the turn signal lever actually presses against
