I'm wanting to convert my brakes from 72 to 78 can someone please give me a complete list of all the parts needed so I can try to and see if buying all the parts new at dealer cost is worth it. Thanks in advance
All the parts are obsolete. Some may be available NOS from Ford Dealers/obsolete parts vendors, but buying parts piece-meal is not the way to do it.
No obsolete parts source will sell parts at dealer cost (how could you determine what the dealer costs were?). Cost +10% maybe, but some sources are snakes, want mega-bucks for obsolete parts.
Best case scenario: Buy a donor truck, remove all the disc brakes related parts, sell the rest to get your money back...plus.
JA Good advice from Bill. When you buy your donor everything is included. You want one that has the engine & transmission like you currently have or want to end up with.
There are folk here like Garbz that is very versed in swaps and recommends buying parts. He knows what fits and doesn't. Certainly heads & shoulders above me in that area. My forgetter works much better than his.
The re-occurring issue that comes up here is a guy doesn't want to buy the truck so he buys parts off this truck and that truck, misses little things like brackets etc. goes back and his parts truck is gone, then he comes here and posts HELP.
The additional bonus for me has been other parts that I sold off my donors, making my upgrade parts -0- in cost.
The easiest way to accomplish this is to swap in the entire front suspension from a donor truck. You have the ability to replace all the wearing parts prior to install. Hit a salvage yard & buy the complete front suspension components (you don't need the springs). Grab the proportioning valve. I personally would bend new lines instead of attempting to reuse 40 yr old stuff. Grab the master cyl & pwr booster as well. Now start swapping into place. John is most likely correct though. You will forget something or more than something & then be stuck with a truck you can't drive until you find it. There is a reason folks recommend getting a donor truck. Might want to seriously consider finding somewhere to temporarily store 1.
Well I have no place to put a donor truck thus why i simply want just the part or a kit
You may want to look at renting a space for a month, maybe two. Look at taking the I can't out of the picture.
It'll take you a couple weekends to do a swap min. maybe longer. I swapped the 3spd for auto during my upgrade plus added a rebuilt engine while I was at it.
Renting a space for time needed is a good thought.
You don't think that we know what we are doing here, so you have to offer another site.
That aint right dude.

haha, everytime I see a link to that other place, I remember when that wasn't allowed, big taboo.
Make sure and get the fittings for the proportioning valve. I did one once and there were a couple that were different and I had to flare them onto the old brake lines. Other than that, it's a straight bolt up. If both trucks are saginaw steering, I'd get the pitman arm and tie rods too.

How is it rude to try to help someone. Your logic would get you dead in the military. "I'm not letting him carry me out because ..." The smart man seeks out as much information as possible on any particular subject prior to making a move. Time to grow up. Personally I find the information at Fordification far more helpful on this subject for 1 specific reason. Pictures! Both sites have their strengths & weaknesses but when it comes to bumps how could you possibly be against FORDification.com - The 1967-1972 Ford Pickup Resource. It is their only subject matter.
I am the same way with anyone who has the same attitude there. I went round & round with an admin over there over the exact same thing. So you have a book on survival & are going deep into Alaska. You of course will not take it with you because the cover is blue. How absurd does that sound?

This will probably get deleted and is off topic but just so you know. Keith started that site when he got sideways with Ken here. Had they not had personal problems with each other, all that information would now be part of FTE instead of being the opposing site.
