Off topic but I was gonna go to Maui the end of march my wife and I and my 10 month old son. I wanted to know if you guys could recommend a nice place to stay. Thanks
it's been 33 days and I'm back in town. The X in question is still sitting on the Dealers lot. For $17k now
sent them a nice e-mail with the list of issues I found last time. should be interesting to hear back from them. told them I wasn't expecting alot of money off the final price, but it needed to be worth offsetting the repairs required. a real shame they don't know I can have the 4x4 working for essentially no $$$$
got a nice lady coming to look at the F-250 tomorrow. She's been calling the wife about buying it for over 2 weeks now. Would be nice to sell my truck this weekend and then drive that X home Monday. Stranger things have happened.
Average BLACK Book (the only one that matters) retail on that Ex is about 16k. That is average, which includes the problems it has. If it didnt have those problems, we would be talking "clean" values. The reason you were having trouble getting to numbers with that dealer is probably because your truck is worth more than the one you want to trade on, but you owe money on it at the same time. It is kind of a rare transaction that dealers dont come across very often, lots of numbers to think about there. Most people trade up, and get further in debt, you are doing it the smart way. If your truck has under 30k, as I think i read that it does, clean Black Book trade-in on it is about $23k.
Nice to 'hear your voice again'! Good luck with that dealership, clearly you have the upper hand since its STILL sitting there. I still think they are ******, but Studawg's assessment may have calmed me down a bit. It could just be something as simple as 'too many numbers'!! Sometimes it's just that dumb of a thing....
Either way, good luck. May the force be with you!
Karl
Guess they just don't want a sale. Put on hold and they maintained the party line about needing my truck for appraisal before giving X price
In other news, another guy is coming to look at the F-250 tonight and a lady wants to see it tomorrow at noon. Strange how a month of time can change things. Would be really nice to sell it before I deploy this month. Wife let the truck sit 25 days this last "underway".

Yeah, bro, get rid of it if you can. You can always get an Ex later. With your.....schedule, shall we say....... I would make hay while the sun shines. Get it sold and move on.
Pretty firm deal set for $28,500 for the truck today. Have to wait for the bank on Monday. Might see my baby drive off Mon/Tue!
In other news, found a 2000 X lifted on 37's with a V-10 and 77,000 miles @ $11,000. Lots of great pictures and looks to be in nice shape
I'm probably just going to be smart and not buy a rig anytime soon. Like July 2013. Money from selling truck and not having payments would nearly kill my debt

Do it! Imagine how much less stress you would have on your deployment knowing your debt is almost wiped out.

I agree, I would think they could still have given you a trade in value for the truck, I dont really know why your loan would affect that.
