I have a recently purchased 2004 E-250 work truck. 147,000 Miles, 4.6L, manual windows, manual door locks, about the only amenity is A/C and radio. My problem is after turning the key on whether the engine is running or not, after 1 minute I will get a series of warning chimes 1 short(about 2 seconds, 1 long (about 12 seconds), another long, a short, and then 3 longs. The pattern will repeat after about 30 minutes of driving, about 15 to 20 miles.
I don't see a door ajar light on the instrument cluster light test when the key is turned to the on position. Is ther a door ajar light on this bare bones model or does the tone pattern indicate something else?
I know this is a lot of detail, but thought more is better than not enough. Its slowly driving me nuts.
You may want to check under (usually the front passenger's) seat to see if the seat sensor (weight sensor for airbag?) is unplugged or the wires are broken.
Thanks for the reply, but I am wearing the seatbelt. The warning tone for that is a rapid succession of beeps. Not as I described. I did check under the seat as suggested but that area is working as it should.
