What pfogle said. Standard part number is SS598. DO NOT get part number SS598T. This is Standard's "economy" line, Tru-Tech. I got the SS598T where I work for my dad's '88 T-bird...it worked for a couple weeks, then one day I started the car and it stuck closed and cranked until the battery was drained.
I think Standard makes some decent stuff...but their Tru-Tech line is garbage.
I we replaced the starter with a later year permanant-magnet style (90's), may be current draw wouldn't be as drastic on the relay....since the main relay is on the starter itself. It might be good to investigate that option for our starters.
I've been wrenching a good 45 years and drove Fords since 74. I have only seen a handfull of Ford starter relays fail. The quality of parts isn't what it used to be, I know, but I think you have another issue here. Have you checked the starter draw? How long do you crank before the engine starts? Is your battery good or does it wane down as you start?
short of that, i'm also a fan of the $5 Motorcraft junkyard pieces.
i had a pricey Napa/Echlin part go south on me in under a year. grabbed one of the $5 ones out of my spares box, and haven't had any trouble since.
That's a good brand.
From any manufacturer, a 200 amp, continuous rated with silver contacts is best. Should get at least 50,000 cycles out of them.
Probably all are made in China these days, so get the best rated one.
I did not know O'Rielly's had Motorcraft.
My source for start relays, voltage regulators and blue grommet brain boxes is the oem units found on junkers. I have bucket fulls of them to last a lifetime.

This is good to know - I've seen that T on the end of some Standard part numbers and could never find out what the difference was until now.
