I've got a 1999 2WD std. cab. Ever since I have owned it, the
rear window has leaked, which I finally got fixed about a month
ago!!! The passenger's side carpet would get wet, which I
thought was coming from the rear window, as bad as it was
leaking. Well, this morning, I found the passenger's side carpet
wet again.
So, any ideas? Windshield?? If it is the windshield, does
anybody have any experience in pulling it / resealing it??
Under the plenum at the base of the windshield there are two panels spot welded together to form the end of the plenum. Mine had no sealer at the seam of the two panels. Used silicone to seal. Unfasten the top of the fender under the hood and behind the top door hinge. Pull back and block with a chunk of 2X4. Look at the base of the windshield, under the rear edge of the top plenu panel, the one with the ventilation slots. You'll see the two vertical panels and the seam. You can't touch it, and I used a popsicle stick to dab it with silicone.
Verification that this is the leak is to get in upside down with the glove box removed. Look up at the far right underside of the dash. There will be a blob of sealer that is falling down & rusty. If you have that, you probably have this leak spot.
If this is totally unclear, let me know.

It's best to have a pro do this sort'da thing. The glass is very easily broken. I know of guy's that have removed the molding and applied silicon sealer around the butal rubber with good success. You might try that.
There is a special tool required, but all auto shop's carry them, and they are cheap.
Yes I've seen this before on "Ranger's" mine included, but with mine the warranty covered it.
Thought it was the antennae-- took back to dealer. They'fixed' it. Still wet. Ignored it for years. Found the rust at the rear/bottom plenum, just above and to the right of the heater air intake. Wah Wah. Rest of truck is almost rust free, after 18 years... Chipped away the loose rust and 'dum-dum' sealer that had rusted free..., applied 'rust stop', and hopefully fixed the leak. Had to test with garden hose. Took off all the moldings. On mine, they will pry straight up from the windshield using a putty knife. The retainer clips kind of grab the edge of the molding, and pop over built-in posts that are affixed to the inside of the windshield frame.
