New bilstein 5100 stab

I installed the bilstein steering stab today, ten min job.The oem stab was complete junk. I dont think it was doing anything. When I took it off it stayed the same length,so I compressed it a couple inches and no movement at all? It only has 2600 miles on it.What a piece of crap. I also put on the rancho 9000xls on all four corners last week and the oem shocks moved very slowly when compressed. I was going to put them on craigs list but after taking them out I wouldnt even give them away.Heres a pic of stab and shocks.

A steering stabilizer is a 50/50 shock (pull/push). It shouldn't extend on its own, but yeah, the stockers are juuuuuunk!

I kept all my stock crap in the event that I need to send in one of the aftermarket ones for warranty work, that way I'm not completely down....

It's probably charged enough where it wouldn't effect the steering (i.e. pull the truck to one side) but can still perform well enough to soften the blow of a bumpy road..

My 7100 stabilizer came with way too much nitrogen in it so I had to let some out. It pulled slightly with my stock tires but now is perfect with the Toyo's.

I whacked mine with a 3# hammer (BFH) a few times and it broke free.

I would think a pickle fork would be the best tool?

I hit the casing and had no trouble...I guess I was lucky. A pickle fork and an air hammer and you are good to go.

Adventure Rider,
It's between the bumper and front axle. It sits horizontally and its black. Replacing it with a Bilstein 5100 ($80) is a big improvement and an easy job.

I tried a hammer with no luck so then I used a pickle fork and it popped off easily.
