Incidentally I went outside this morning to my truck and had 5 huge wild turkeys looking at my truck. They were picking at the grass area just off the lake. Then I started thinking about some of my problems with my truck. Turkeys.. truck....turkeys ...truck....turkeys....truck. I just had to laugh. The turkeys weren't shy and sauntered off slowly while I started my truck. As I headed up my 100 yard drive way one was on the driveway and four off to the left in a field. Too early for thanksgiving but that did get me thinking. Lots of wildlife at my place. One morning out the back I had a lot of white tail deer on the grass. I counted 18 and they are shy. That's the record so far....18.
The barn where I ride at raises turkeys and ducks. A duck laid her eggs too close to a turkey nest and when the ducklings hatched half went with the duck mom and half with the turkey mom. It was very funny watching 4 ducklings waddling after the turkey. Funnier when the ducklings would paddle in the puddle while the turkey stood there confused as to why her babies were swimming.
Wait until the mother turkey gobbles and the ducklings quack, or vice versa, the mother duck quacks and the baby turkeys gobble.
Talk about an ugly duckling story in the making. When the imprinting is over, they will revert back to their intended lives I suspect. I have seen the same thing with a mother dog and baby ducklings. Very strange breast feeding I imagine.
There are turkeys all over the place around us. There is usually a dozen or so passing through at any given time. They are kind of neat to watch, but even better in the deep fryer.
We had baby peking ducks we got as tiny yellow fluff *****.
They were great pets, even when they were tiny they followed the kids around the yard and played. We got them their own kiddie pool, and it was a blast to sit in the yard and watch them play.
They really bond, it's amazing. the amount of time they spend around humans changes how wild or tame they get.
They really make the yard too, just all around nice to have.

This afternoon there were 16 geese on the back grass when I got home. It was sunny and some were sleeping and some were eating. That is no where near the record though.
If I run out of groceries, well, I won't go hungry. Or I can just catch pickerel...you call them Walleyes off the dock.
Got my sync to connect my phone. Didn't do anything different but hey, it is working for now. Haven't tried the business phone. Will try that one tomorrow.
