Ford's IDS tool strategy has the following hardware:
VCM
The Vehicle Communication Module (VCM) communicates with Ford vehicles through the 16-pin diagnostic link connector. This device is used by the IDS software and is the core of our diagnostic strategy.
The use of the IDS software requires a software license, which can be purchased for an additional fee - see IDS Software Licensing.
