Has anyone ever heard of a core charge on a TFI ignition module for a F150 4.9L? I purchased a TFI module from a Ford dealer and was told that Ford has a core charge on the modules. I was just wondering if anyone ran into this. It seemed a bit odd to me.
I did not think that was right, I just wanted some input from someone else. I am not really for sure why the dealer would think there should be a core on a TFI module. It kind of made me a little gun shy about going to a Ford Dealer.
Any more experiences with this type of thing would be appreciated.
Well as a dealer tech I can tell you thier parts computers can be very inaccurate, as to the core bit. Ive seen wiring ties on a recall kit being listed as having a core, and they are expendable items. It is most likely an error, or is actually listed as needing a core return for WARRANTY replacements. Sometimes the parts boys have to have it spelled out in front of them to understand, especially newbie rookies. I would call the parts manager to see if it is actually an error in regards to retail over the counter sales.
