Hey all..on the new 86" B II i just bought, the speedo is not working. I got under it and pulled the cable from where it goes in and it seems like it has a lot of play in it..maybe 3 inches...i can push it all the way into the cable, had to get needlenose to pull it back out...lol....but once i fed it back in..nope..still not working...any ideas? should i just get a new one?
Also..windshield wipers only have 1 speed.(high)..how can i fix that?
try turning the inside of the cable to see if the speed o works. I use to do this with a cordless drill just to check the gauge. if nothing then I would take the gauge out and check it too. Thats my recomendation. I dont like ordering stuff (throwing parts at something) with out knowing what is wrong. That being said I do think you are going to need a new cable. GL
I would check to see if the Speedo end is connected. If not, then that is part of the problem. If it is and was seated properly, possiblity exists that the cable is parted and would require a new cable. I don't think there should be that much 'slack' between the sheath and the cable inside, just doesn't sound right.
I've had the joy of reconnecting a cable that the end on the transmission came out of the donor vehicle and what was left of the existing cable was just tied up out of the way. Ended up having to use large crimpers to get the cable somewhat seated in the end fitting and sealing it up with RTV. Didn't get any tickets or warnings because of a 'broken speedo' after that ... until I had a non-fault wreck on the way to renew my insurance
Well..i crawled under the B II and hooked up my cordless with wife in the cab..no speedo so i am going to pull the dash and see if it is dc'd on the inside..will keep you posted..
