I was told it has a 4in suspension lift and 2in body lift. they double stacked blocks in the back (thats got to go). the pictures above are how the truck sat when i bought it.
light bar was the first to go. sold it for 60 on CL. Btw the craigslist ultimate app is amazing for all day browsing at work.
interior. wow yeah the interior was riddled with jimmy rigged wiring. they put a 90 ford bench in here not to bad but im tossing around the idea of putting newer buckets in or possibly getting the og bench and reupholstering it.
the cd player had been installed very badly i fixed that and replaced the head unit. Also installed new door speakers and ran new wire. i yanked out the CB and the wiring for it as well.
Looks like you have a good start, amazing what a little clean up will do. When I picked up my SC it had some 90's bronco seats in it and I traded those for a 1996 bench which I am really happy with. The blue/grey fabric is not awful with the blue interior but I would love to get some dark blue vinyl with plaid inserts!
so i work at a trim shop. im the window tinter so logically i had to tint her up!
5% all around. i usually dont go this dark on my stuff but i went for it this time.
The biggest problem i had with the trucks bed. looked like it went through ww2. looots of bondo action. also i failed to look under the bed mat and there was a huge hole in the bed where a goose neck was. Any ways i was surfing craigs list (me and craig are tight) i found a 79 reg cab with a blown tranny. i got it for 900 bucks. i robbed the hood pass door and the square head lights and chrome bezels and yes a beautiful bed
i also grabbed the exhaust off of it.
Aight so the city of harrison had us tint one of there loaders and they made the mistake of leaving it over the weekend.
I worked construction for many years with the old man. learned how to operate heavy equipment.
I ran down to home depot and grabbed 4 eyelet bolts and bolted them where the bolts would go through the bed to the frame. pulled the bed off my 78 and set it on some used tires. next i did the same for the bed on the 79. i wasnt going to do it but i did. i used the loader to put the 78 bed onto the 79. VERY carefully. got out about 5 times to check things haha
So i got the 79 bed sitting on tires right now. Before i get the bed put on i wanted to get the frame cleaned up. Dont wanna pull that long bed off anymore than i have to.
Ok so i love the truck, but the 33s were jus not cutting it. So i found a set of 38.5 super swamper tsl's.
(hey sam guess what they dont rub! you owe me a value meal from wendy's)
Ha but anyways they look great. very difficult to balance! got to love some meats.
i did a lil reasearch and looks like i can get a 8in leaf spring lift from carrier springs for 700. that way i can remove the body lift or at least some and get a lil more lift. Obviously there will be some more cost involved in the lift but its a ball park.
Here is some of the interior after i pulled out the old cd playa and CB.
I put in the cool little cd player. its a phantom. pretty cool.
i had a problem with my dash lights coming on and off while driving. I pulled out the cluster and found the problem. bad connection on the plastic piece on the back. nothing a little hot glue couldnt handle.
