I had to run kiddo off to soccer and its dark now. So give me some ideas to check tomorrow. I do have a volt meter and a test light available. Location of icm would be cool too. I am assuming its the silver box on the base of the fat part of the dizzy.
I wonder if it has the horrid TFI module mounted on the dizzy, the worst POS FoMoCo foisted on mankind.
If so, and it's marked E3EF-12A297-A1A or A2A it's E43Z-12A297-A (Motorcraft DY-425), the module that the NHTSA forced FoMoCo to recall FIVE million vehicles ten years ago, to replace the little charmers.
The little charmer overheats, engine dies. This can occur at any time, any place.
Yes it is mounted on the dizzy. 50 bucks at the zone. Truck actually runs better and smoother now with the new ICM. Granted the old one was a OEM Motorcraft part with almost 200k on it.
How many times was it replaced during those 200,000 miles? If you bought it new, you would be aware. If not, it could have been replaced as many as 10 times. It was a TURD from day one.
