Guys just wanted to throw out the experience of installing these *******s. Only isstal was the flange bolt on p/s (at manifold, top one), and the fact that, the collector came out with the d/s pipe, no biggie, bolt the one bolt ended up breaking the collector about 1/4in of thread... Luckily, had another one is parts bin. Anyway, got all tore down, anti-siezed everything, and when it was time for re-installing, fed turbo with collector in..(non bolted down to turbo), then fed p/s pipe in, with play to turbo off pedestall, went into position, no problem. Next went the d/s, again, with ease. Bolted them down first to manifold, then went atop and tightened turbo to pedestal. From there, me and buddy worked simultaneously on d/s turning same amount of threads until tight. The p/s, he was underneath getting to back bolt, while i was able to get to the other bolt from atop, under the downpipe. Started with 1/4in ratchet, then to snug ur up, used the 3/8 w/10mm socket.
Got me my gaskets to do the same. Nothing like having a "guinea truck" to get the confidence, b4 tackling my own truck..lol
will do. We ran her hard yesterday (30min), on freeway, then came back and installed his BOGUS Banks chip. Truck got up and went over stock, but still, not the route i'd take. Anyway, no sign of leakage...
His p/s pipe was leaking, believed it was from OP popping the turbo, and dealer installing it. I think they loosened up the bolts to "seat" the collector, then buttoned it up. If you took a look at it, the one side of each flange was crushed tight to the collector but the other side had about an 1/8in-3/16in gap between it. Think overtime, just worked the oem gasket to nothing and also made a "grind" looking mark 1/2 way around original pipe. We installed new pipes..(scored for 75 buks).
After doing these, and seeing WHATS all entale/parts...its tough to swallow the fact that bellowed pipes are 500 buks. Besides a "guarentee" that the bellows wont leak, i cant see how the FELPRO are labeled as a "band-aid" fix. Buddy can wipe his **** with $$$, and he even agrees that he saved 500 buks?
BTW...Were gonna do what BIGDOGFUZZ did, and with the old uppies, going to order the "bellows" only, cut the old ones, and weld them in just for shiats. VIBRANT #40055s. Thanksfor p/n andpics DOG...

Even if you don't install bellows, I would recommend getting a cheap pipe expander to help with the sealing of the FELPRO donuts.
