Hello All, I am posting a picture of my 1975 ford f150 2wd and I can't figure out why the driver side bed is higher than the passenger size making it uneven. Has anyone seen something like this and know what might be the cause, can it be a bad leaf springs or some type of spacer between the bed and the frame, if anyone has any idea what it can be I will appreciate any info.
Hey 77&79 yeah there is a dent on the driver side corner cab where the bed and the cab line up, I talked to my brother who add the truck before me for a couple of years he said that dent occurred when he was getting the truck towed by a friend and it accidently came off hook of the tow truck my brother said he thinks its a really bad bent leaf spring now I'm really doubting that maybe the frame is tweaked like you stated. If the frame is tweaked is that something that can get repaired at a frame shop.
Frame repaired at a frame shop yes, $$. But I would think it would take more than the aforementioned accident to tweak it and or bend the spring, they are pretty stout and that slip off the tow hook does not sound all that bad.
So yes it sounds like a bent leaf, I'd do a visual insp of each leaf. If the frame or leaf spring was tweaked that bad, it would "dog leg" as we call it around here (run crooked) down the road.
Do some tape measuring of each sides clearances/distances ect....compare them to each other and go from there.
My 79 F150 2wd bed is higher on the driver side then the passenger side. I notice it when I look at the rear window seal and the top of the bed running underneath it. I recently replaced hangers, shackles and leaf springs along with the rear end and none of those things fixed it on my truck. When I had the bed off to replace the fuel filler hoses, I didn't see any damage to the bottom of the bed, but I should have replaced the rubber mounts, but didn't have the funds while I had it apart. Not sure if the rubber mounts will resolve it but if that's not it then I've got a bent frame, but it doesn't drive like the frame is bent. If new mounts don't resolve the height difference, then I might shim it to make it sit level.

As said earlier, the bed is bolted directly to the frame, no rubber mounts there.
