alright guyyss, i just put a 429 in my truck, the 429 has set up for 2-3years, when i go to start it up it just cranks and cranks and cranks nothing happens, every once in awhile it will backfire through the exhaust or through the carburetor, but only once in a blue moon, checked the spark, it is getting both spark and gas, so i dont understand, gas+fire equals fire so any suggestions? would oiling up the pistons, through the sparkplug holes help lubricate??
well the distributor never cam out the engine, so thats why i didnt mess with the timing, but i guess it couldnt hurt to put it on TDC tomorrow and go from there
if it never came out don't pull it IMO its probably something small and seemingly insignificant that might have been overlooked (one time wired the coil backwards) it happens
yeah thats what i thoughtt, and idk man, ive checked most the things i can think off, i got the battery on the charge for tonight, i had to go buy a fuel pump earlier it wasnt getting gas, after i put it in the battery wasnt real dead but it just wasnt turning it over very fast, so im hoping that once it gets full power, it'll get warmed up and primed and fired up (I hope)
checked three times, correct, 15426378, rightt?? and when i had my 302 in i had the firing order wrong and it would pop and backfire constantly and run bad and all that, its like this one isnt doing anything, but it has fuel, air, spark, soo idkk
i think i figured it out (i Hope) well like i said before seems like no spark, but there is spark going through the wires, well i pulled the sparkplugs and this is how they look, pretty sure a spark cant go through that
my question is, is this just from sitting up? or is this a symptom of something wrong with the engine?
Hmm, guess ill have to approach that problem when i get it started up, still not wanting to start, backfires through the carb etc.. firing order is correct, i guess tomorrow im going to set it at tdc and reset the dizzy, even though the dizzy was bolted down it may have been taken out sometime, the backfiring and all sounds too much like being 180 not to try it
