Hi, on my 1979 f150 should there be a Fuseable link on the fairly heavy black/yellow wire that goes to the battery side of my starter solenoid? If so where should it be located? Mine is connected directly to the solenoid with no Fuseable link. Thanks
Yes, there should be a fusible link. The fusible link is a short length of wire spliced into the end of the wire. It usually has a molded rubber tab at the end to show that it's a fusible link.

Thanks fmc400. That's what I thought. Mines definitely not there, will have to find one ASAP.
Fusible link normaly runs two sizes smaller than the main wire. 10 guage main wire would have 14 guage fusible link for example. Most autoparts stores stock up to 14 guage. OE was likley 14 or 16 guage fusible link. NAPA and auto electric stores may stock heavier fusible link but its not normally required for stock replacement. Solder and heat shrink seems to work fine for fusible link replacement.
Looks like the wire is 10ga so I will pick up a 14 ga link and solder it in. Also that black/yellow wire runs back to a three wire plug and there is two smaller wires coming out of it, ones red/orange and the other is yellow/brown. Where should these wires run to? The red/orange wire goes to the battery side of the solenoid and the yellow/brown wire isint hooked up to anything. Thanks for the help.
