fuel shutoff? need some hints
Hey everybody, I've been helping out a friend swap a newer engine into his 89 300-6 and everything seemed to work out fine until he drove it on the highway it acted like it ran out of gas, the truck has dual tanks so he switched and made it home where it died again. He was thinkin the fuel filters were plugged up so I replaced both the canister type in the black plastic reservoir and the main filter after the main pump. Then we could not get any fuel or air to come thru anything. The pumps would humm like they were working but didn't do anything. Well we left it sit a few days and it starts right up. I'm afraid it will die on him later if we don't figure out why.

I know would be easy to do but I have it right. We have determined the main rail pump is good by feeding it with a bottle, but with the lines hooked up I unhooked the front line and it wouldnt even push air through. It's soo wierd since it started up and ran fine three says later but how do we know its fine?
