Which do you think could pull more with all things being the same as rear ends trannys (manual) etc the 5.4 or the 6.0 the 6.0 has 40more hp and 10more ft of tourqe but it makes all of its tourqe at 4someting rpm while the 5.4 makes all of its tourqe at 2500rmp so which do you guess think would win?

The GM 6.0L doesn't make "all" of it's torque at 4 something rpm. It actually makes over 300lb-ft from 1000rpm all the way up to about 5500rpm. It peaks at 4000rpm. The 5.4 doesn't make 300lb-ft until about 1500rpm and drops below 300lb-ft at 4400rpm. The 6.0L has a much flatter torque band.

I'll take the 6.0 any day over the 5.4. If I can just figure out how to transplant it.

While the 5.4L is plenty strong and well suited to it's applications it is no tractor pull engine!

You should always 'spec' your truck to have a good 20-25% extra capacity then you think you will need if towing / heavy hauling is going to be part of the trucks life.

That's why Ford has the SuperDuty trucks with the fine 6.8L V-10 and the mighty PowerStroke Diesel!

The 6.0 Chevy is the one with all the low mileage knocking and piston slap isn't it?

Have you been to a Chevy dealer lately? Don't you know the engine is designed to piston slap? It's actually a clever feature designed to let you know when your truck has warmed up! I gotta hand it to GM they took the best small block V-8 ever made (the 350) and added more cubic inches and another feature, makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Apparently they wanted the trucks to stay on the dealer lot so they made them "like a rock" this way they are camoflaged and way to heavy to move.

I kind of like that piston slap when I pull up to one at a stop light, it has a nice rhythm to it, kind of like ''thumpin' '' for chevies.

I believe Ford addressed this issue with the new 3-valve. This new head design should put an end to this debate.
