Charging System Failure

Remember that Unit has had several Oil showers before everything has flown off. There is a kind of Glue on the Surface left (picture above) that once had contact to the Impeller. Would have the penetrating Oil chemicaly decomposed this Glue? Imagine the Shovels have lifted off at a sufficient Drag because of this..? However, the little rear Bearing is in fact floppy with lots of play.
lbnl, perhaps some headbangers may have plunge a Nail into the Housing.

In a Conclusion, i remain suspect but i do not want to judge this Product as bad. The WPS has a clean finished Housing, other then the many preserved mummy-style like Remans available out there. It spins very smooth with no roughness and has never begun to squeal or hum. It comes with an inoxydable metallic Pulley and a HD grade Regulator. Nevertheless some upgrades could perhaps improve the reliability (Bearing).
Alternator the IIV - Remanufatured ACDELCO from Wholeseller Closeout (65bucks) sold by Rock

This remanufactured ACDELCO has a rough felt spinning, right out from the Box. It does squeal a bit and i suspect that it will obtain a weak Condition early. At least i hope he will fail upon announcement, giving a chance to get a deadline for replacing the Bearings before everything blows off.

kind of like a new marriage couple, takes time to wear off the rough edges and high spots.
Still, new brushes may not feel smooth on continuous rings.
meant to use slip rings, still old school
you can tell us old duffers.
40 years ago, turned my built solid lifter cam SB 283 Chevy to 6k rpm+, generator commutator turned into shrapnel.
Wife's new turbo BMW doesn't redline until 7500 rpm
if you dig into that WPS or AC/D alternators, you'll find the components are made in China. The Chinese are not know for their machining talents or quality control.
Friend of mine bought a Chinese made AK-47 semi auto. Think came apart firing it, took away part of his face. Bolt mechanism shattered.
Cheaper is not always better.
Those Products may have been in storage for a long time. Grease gets sticky inside the Ball Bearings over the years. In use, the Grease can return to a better condition by heat and motion. Worth a try to remove the Belt from the Alternator after a period of use and examine the spin.
