Open door chime

I just picked up a 1998 F-150 Super cab. When you open the drivers door, the chime comes on.

Is this normal ?? I don't remember any other vehicle that I ever had that does this.

If not normal, what could the problem be?

If the key is in the ignition, the open door chime will be activated.

That's what I thought. Well, NOW, I have to figure out WHY it is chiming. Something must be stuck to make it do that.

My 97 just started this last night. Also Radio quit working, like no power to it at all.

door chime

My '97 been doin this for a year or more. If I'm working on something and need the drivers door open I just run a screwdriver thru the door latch & it stops the chime. Sometimes if I bump the stering column or jiggle the key it stops. I think it might be dthe clockspring assy. as somebody replied but have no idea how to take it apart as not even mentioned in the HAYNES manual I have. Any help would be appreciated.
