i have a 1988 f350 7.3idi , when you turn ingnition on it used to light the wts light up and you would here click click click then it would turn over and start now it clicks rapidly and the light flashes it also wont turn over it makes rapid taping noise i have replaced the ignition switch on column the glow plug controller alternator and starter solenoid on fender i think it has a nother solenoid on the starter im out of ideas what should i do next
You have some burnt out GPs to cause the WTS light to not stay on. Your engine should still turn over, just hard to start without the working GPs. If it does not turn over, you have weak batteries and poor electrical connections. Clean all connections, from battery to starter. Grounds too. With good batteries it should spin over without trouble.
thanks i was whonedering if the glow plugs could be bad how hould i test them or should i replace them all my wireing isnt the best so i am going over it all cleaning up conections, this is my first diesel ford so thanks for any info
Read the stickies at the top of the main page. The ones that say, "read first" the very first one pertains to you. It will tell you much you NEED to know about glow plugs, including how to test them, which ones to use, ONLY USE MOTORCRAFT GP"S and what else to look for. Do yourself a favor and do the multimeter method of testing, if you don't have one any auto parts store will have one usually pretty cheap, or to loan. It is a much more accurate test.
