Is this truck worth the $$$

Hello guys. I'm new to the forum, and to Ford trucks for that matter. I found a 69 custom cab short bed. It has a 240, that hasn't ran for a long time, with a 3 speed. There's a good bit of surface rust/sun damage, but no major pitting issues. The guy wants $2000, but as a C10 Chevy man I've never priced one of these. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks for any insight.

From the way it looks... I'd say ~$500 for it (at the cost of 10 cents a pound for scrap steel & iron) .

Nonrunning/nondriving it is worth scrap weight. The body is nothing to be all proud of. If I were you I would look for what is good on the truck not what you think is the bad. Then determine what that list of good is worth. I see you will need a new bumper & right fender at minimum as far as the body goes along with acid dip.

An example of what I mean would be I see it is missing a piece of trim on the bedside. Instead of saying you need a piece of trim look at all the rest of the trim. How many pieces are actually good pieces? Trim is not cheap if you have to buy it repro

Welcome to FTE Rusty . Id say $400. That ain't a very good example of fords bumpsides (1967-72). Id stay far away from it.

RS Welcome to FTE & the Bumps forum, That is a $3-400.00 truck in my O.

Asking is one thing getting is another. Today he might not get $200.00 for it.

If you want a bump, keep looking, taking your time, turn over rocks to see what is under them. One will be there for you at a decent price.

new to ford

He said that guy is smoking crack... If you buy it for 2k you will have 2 crack smokers, If he does smoke crack, 400 bucks should bury him in rocks for a while..I paid 1k for a 66 step side that runs with a newer motor in it, I thought I got Fire trucked.... and I yard drove it all over the place before I bought it... and it has a salvage title to boot..... Just needed a fender and bumper...

I think 2 grand is too high for a non runner but $200-$400? Come on guys, you can't even buy a halfway decent bed for that price. The grille looks nice and straight from what I can see, that's at least $150 part. Not running I would say around $750 from what I can see.

If you like the rat rod look $700-$900 would be a good price as the truck is worth more than scrap price. $2000? Naw, I would pass. At least he is high, to be talked down. Or have him get it running first to see what else is wrong with it.

Willowbilly you are right. Id say if RS had a bumpside already in his hands this would be a gould buy for 600-800 because of the nice grille, bumper, wheels and emblems but for a non runner project i wouldnt give it much value.

I paid about $600 for a running 1971 bumpside with a v8. I will have to agree with everyone here that $2000 is WAY to high a price

my truck

The short box does command more money but you have a very valid point. Yours may be a LWB but it did run.

I agree with the general consensus that 2k is way too high. Especially for a non running truck. I am getting a running 1970 short bed with extra parts for $700. Either keep looking, or wait to see if he drops the price.

I paid $1000 for my 72. Had some minor rust in the body and bed, but nothing major, ran and drove, ended up driving to to AZ from CA a week later and back. So I agree though with the concencious for a non runner 2K is pretty high on one of these trucks. if it was a 51 Mercury, I could see someone trying to charge that. But I'd hold off or try to talk him down.
