I have a 93 Ranger with a 3.0 V6 and electronic distributor with no spark out to the plugs. The coil fires when you turn the engine over with the wire pulled out of the dis. cap, but no spark to the plugs.
I removed the dis. and carried it to the local Auto Zone, and O'Rileys to have the pick-up module tested, and both stores say they cannot check this particular module.
Can someone please tell me where I may be able to have it checked? Does a ford dealership have the equipment to check it with the dis. out of the engine??
Thanks critterf1.......I will check the cap and rotor. I did notice that the steel piece that bolts on plate under the rotor has different width tangs on it, seems they would all be the same width being as they determine when the coil fires.
I agree, if you have a good blue hot spark out of the coil, through the coil wire To the distributor cap, but not to the plugs, then the rotor, distributor cap & plug wires should be on your suspect list.
If the rotor insulation is breaking down to the distributor shaft, it'll short out, or weaken the spark voltage to the plugs.
