Pull the water seperator drain plug at the hfcm first. Have a qt. container ready. Doing this first will give you less fuel running down the frame rail. I always stuff a rag above the framerail under the hfcm.

Remember, after your fuel filter Change. To sycle the key on for about 10 sec. Anywhere from 5 to 8 times. To purge the air out of the system. If not you will have a hell of a time starting the truck.

Okay got it. I was wondering about that water/fuel drain plug. Should I let this empty out before I start changing filters?

I do, some here have said that their truck never stops draining. If you have this problem try parking the truck on an incline nose up and take off the fuel cap to relieve any press. built up in the tank.

Alrighty. Do I need to empty out the fuel that will be in the filter housing on top, or just leave it?

I take it out with a turkey baster just so I don't make a mess. The new filter will displace the fuel till it is absorbed.

Alright, is it okay to suck it all up until the housing is dry? I assume it would be, just trying to make sure I don't go tearing anything up haha.

There is no need to empty the top fuel bowl, just slowly install the new filter.

Attempting to empty it is an invitation for contamination.

Hmm, alright.
I was also wondering where all the grease zerks are at on these '05 4x4 front ends, as I usually add a little grease to all of them when I change the oil. My previous truck was an '04 4x4 v10, so obviously the front ends are a lot different .
Also, are there any in the rear, or inbetween that I should grease up? Don't want to miss any.

This truck is also a fx4 if that makes any difference.

Go to the tech folder pinned to the top of this forum for all the information you need. It has procedures for changing the oil & fuel filters.

One thing I'll add is to loosen your oil filter cap then drain your pan. This will allow the approx 1 quart of oil in the filter housing to drain back in the pan and be drained with all the other oil.
