My CEL is on... got my ScanGauge II in today and plugged it up; coming back as P2285 which is Injector Control Pressure Sensor Circuit Low. What does that mean, and what do I need to do next?
When my truck set that code I was getting a random rough idle and slight surgeing at highway speeds. I just replaced the icp sensor and cleaned the connector. Some will say change wireing harness as well but after cleaning mine everything has been fine so far Search on here how to change icp sensor, yours is below the turbo, it looks hard but after you get things out of the way it is not to hard to change.
Alrighty, I'll see what I can do with the ICP sensor... I've not removed it, no. I did notice today (after plugging in SGII) that every now and then while idling my truck will just start to go into what sounds like a high-idle. It's very random and the length of time in high idle changes all the time. Also just up and died on me once when going very slowly down a steep gravel hill a little while ago. Started right back up just fine, though.
What does the ICP sensor do, and how urgent is changing/cleaning it? I.E., do I need to park the truck till I have time, or is it okay to drive it a bit? I have been getting pretty rough starts and idles for the last few weeks, but I really don't have time to deal with it right now.
I just got the SGII in this afternoon so no, I've not set any xgauges for it yet... looked pretty complicated when I looked through the manual, and I don't know what they would be for this truck yet, either.
Also, either the code never would clear for me, or it came back instantly. Tried five or six times to clear it, but always was still there and the CEL never went off.
On the coolant issue, the shop I took it to said it passed the head pressure test just fine and he also pulled the EGR Valve and confirmed it was dry. I did have a small external coolant leak on the hose going to the heater core so they replaced that for me. I'm getting ready to do a full flush on the system soon... just have to find a free day! I've seen talk about actually pulling the thermostat first to speed up the process... for someone with limited tools and huge hands (I'm 6'7" and very well built), how feasible will that be? I'm also very intrigued by the reverse flush process, but just not sure I've got the time to set all that up right now. Wish I did, though!
Double post again, sorry... slow internet out here in the mountains! Sometimes it'll trigger the POST feature on these boards twice while trying to load. Wonder if it'll ever double-bill my CC when I'm submitting a payment? that would suck...
X - gages are all that matters for 6.0l the only gauge most people use that's supplied with scangauge is fwt' = coolant temperature. I have a printed list I can email you or someone will be by soon with a link. I think I here amdriven comming now!
I'm sure I did... Fax is in the basement office... I'm in front of the tv on the third floor... Thanks! What are the most useful gauges on your experience?
Go to main page and read " is it the injectors and you'll see how Benny( Blade35) works with people and the info you need to post to check different systems. Oh ya KOEO is key on engine off. He'll also require readings at idle and then at 2500 RPM
