e40d shifting

A while back my trans went to limp mode. Of corse I was in the middle of no where so I had to disconect the batts to erase the code to get the trans to shift normal. When I got back home, there was no cods in history either. I have noticed my trans will shift beautiful when the temps are cold and cool. When it gets to normal temp it starts to shift harder, but not like limp mode.... Would this be a direction I can point to figure out why it went to limp mode? I have replaced the sensor by the oil fill . Looks like a big bolt with 2 wires in it. Thanks

I know there are some specifics to the E4OD, I'm not familiar with them. You might try searching previous posts. What I would do is a fluid service. You can drop the pan and change the filter. Also rotate the engine over till the drain plug is visible on the torque converter and drain that also. Valvoline MaxLife trans. fluid is supposed to be one of the best fluids. If I had a auto trans. I would install an aftermarket external cooler, preferably with a fan.
