The stock '99-'01 lenses sucked BEFORE they clouded up. These were dangerously weak brand new IMO... Get the '02-'04 lenses and run a relay harness and 80/100watt bulbs. I do not need/want any more light AND this set-up is not annoying to other drivers (like most HID's ).
I put the '05-'07 front end on the dually and feel like I betrayed my 7.3 heritage. Also, the 9008/H13 bulb in the later-model headlights SUCK. The needle-sized pins in the bulb/pigtail get HOT and with the relay harness I kept melting pigtails...
If ya need more light than that, add some driving lights!
Thanks Jason I was going to just get a set of the 02-04 headlights but I think I am going to also do like you did with the 80/100w bulbs and relays. I have to look around for treads about the relay set up. Did you use one relay per headlight? I'll look around before I ask you 20 questions. But that is a GREAT solution for getting more light down on the road. And thanks for the links that is a great price on the bulbs. And you are right about the silverstars being over priced. But they are an improvement over what I had in there.
I would like to go on the record also about being proud of owning a 7.3 and would never want someone to think I owned a 6.0 leaker.
I have a bad habit of taking something as simple as switching out headlight and letting it snowball into a big deal. So since I just can't leave well enough alone and the sight of the crappy headlights, yellow side marker lens and the chrome bumpers just make me sick. Yes I did say chrome bumpers. I myself hate chrome on Blackie. Some guys love black with chrome everywhere. The only chrome I want on my truck is the emblems, diff cover, exhaust tip and someday trans & oil pan. I want chrome where only road kill will see it.
So here is my plan and I'll start a new tread with photos as I get parts.
1:I am going to paint my turn/side marker front lens E99, dually fender lights and taillights with VHT Nite-Shade & Clear Coat them
2: Switch all the bulbs out with leds that fit stock sockets.
3: Replace the E99 headlights with 02-04 headlights, 80/100w bulbs, relay set up
4: I am going to TRY to turn my chrome bumpers and grill into Black chrome with Dupli-Color :: Shadow.
I hope I'll like the look of the Duplicolor Shadow actually I know I'll like it better than straight chrome. And maybe someday I be able to send my bumpers out or get a set of real black chrome bumpers. I have already painted the rims satin black, smoked Recon cab lights and painted the center of the grill & lower valance satin black.
And thanks to everyone for your input on this subject.
That Dupli color shadow looks like some neat stuff. You could always get front and rear RanchHand bumpers, they come in black.
What do I know, I'm one of those chrome lovers...

Your right Frank there are a few really cool bumpers out there that I would love to have. But since I still don't have a job I am having to do things with little to no money.
Well I ordered a set of these 111080 Anzo Headlights - Crystal w/ Amber Corner (Black) for 99-07 Ford F250 at Andy's Auto Sport
Some of you might remember I tinted my front side marker / turn lights. Well they look kinda cool and they are within state law but since you can't see the side reflector they are not within DOT spec. Now if you look at the Anzo lights I bought the inner ring is painted black with I think will give me the look I am after. Also I am going to do the relay& harness Jason pointed out but that isn't going to happen for awhile due to cash flow.
Now one last note these lights sold by Anzo USA. I myself have never heard of them, have anyone ever heard of them or seen their products? I like the fact that their name has USA in it, but I'll bet the lights are made in China. Well I'll let you know when I get them, I'll be really surprised if they are actually made in the USA. We'll see
I understand that the SilverStar ULTRAS don't last long at all.....I have the regular SilverStars in my '02 OEM headlights (in my '99) and I am very satisfied with the light output.
MAN, Frank your truck sure looks good from any angle in your pictures!
Thanks Rick, but we both know your truck is much better looking.
One day I'll get a normal job and give my truck the rest she deserves.
Until then I'll keep on top of maintenance, and keep her rolling. I really couldn't ask for a better work horse.
