I just got my 02 expy. and i was reading through the recalls on here and i see a recall for the vehicle speed control. I don't know if mine has been changed or not is there any way to look at it and find out? or do i have to take it to a dealer and have them check it out?
You are probably talking about the wire for the cruise control system which goes to the brake master cylinder. The problem is this wire going to the sensor into the master cylinder always has power going to it. What was happening was seal in the sensor in the master would fail, brake fluid would get into the sensor, and the brake fluid would then heat up to the point it would catch fire.
Ford's recall involved the installation of a safety harness for the wire going to the master. The new harness really just put an inline fuse into the mix so that fuse would pop if the sensor failed.
My updated harness has a blue factory tag on it. You could also look to see if that wiring has a fuse/fuseable link in it. Or Ford might have that info in their database for your vehicle.
EDIT: Looks like alloro and I were posting at the same time.
