Noticed on the way to work yesterday how many super duty wannabes there are. Same style mirrors on a Nissan, Toyota and a Chevy. Noticed the new Nissan work vans grill looks like a scaled down 650 grill. guess Ford is doing something right "Imitation is the best compliment"
Yeah I did notice the new chevy trailer mirrors are looking more like the SD ones. I passed a truck, on my way home from work yesterday, pulling a 5th wheel and I saw the big mirrors sticking out and thought "superduty"..... nope it was a chevy.
The mirrors is the one thing that made my decision on the Ford. GM did not even offer the power fold mirrors when I ordered mine. The best decision I made, I love my truck and love driving everyday, no matter how much gas is.

drey04 i do that ever day, go to pass a truck thinking its a Ford because of the mirrors and i get next to them and nope im wrong!
I never mistake a chevy for a ford... But I did notice the new mirrors. I think they must be retrofit like the 08 mirrors on 99-04 trucks, but they didnt work as well. My neighbors do it too. I think they must sit properly on the new trucks and the old trucks will accept them but they angle. They look like ears on a puppy.
The idea of a tall, rectangular, high-visibility (west coast style) mirror is nothing new... The only thing that has changed from brand to brand and year to year are the height:width ratios and the mounting scheme. They generally always include a convex mirror, even if it is one of those stick-on buttons.
no, Ford was not first on this one. I'm thinking it might have been Mack or Peterbilt.
