Cleaning a work shirt

So long story short, I got a fair amount of power steering fluid on my favorite work shirt. Any good advice for cleaning this? I tried two washes and oxyclean and shout. Doesn't stink too much anymore, but it is still there. Is it a goner?

Go get yourself some Borax and make a paste to apply on the area(s). Should find it in the laundry section. Also makes great hand cleaner and I add a little in with each wash of work clothes. Just gets things cleaner than laundry soap alone. It comes as a powder in a box.

Buy a new shirt for work. Use the smelly one for working on your truck!

Awesome idea - I don't know why I didn't think of that - I add Borax to my pool to keep it clear.

I'm laughing a little - what I meant was it is my favorite shirt for working on the truck and in the yard. It is dark and has long sleeves, but is relative cool. I need the long sleeves to protect my arms and keep mosquitos away, but long sleeves are hot in FL and somehow this one is manageable. My "work" clothes come off the minute I get home or I'm in trouble!!

Mechanic Shirts - Red Kap Automotive Series Shirts

Just a recommendation for when your shirt does finally wear out. For me, Dickie's shirts don't fit at all (it's like they're built for fat people with short toothpick arms and micro-sized shoulders, I just don't fit), so it's hard to find cheap "blue collar" shirts. These are built for industrial washing, so I just throw them into my machine at the hottest water setting and normally everything comes out.

They will be perfect when I am ready to make my own 6.0L youtube series.

Seriously I will probably order a few - good deal, dress for success, right?

Use Goop, from the tub. Once the shirt is dry, smear a bunch of that on it over the oil stains, agitate it a bit by rubbing the shirt together, let it set 20 minutes, and then wash as you normally do. Goop takes out grease and oil stains better than anything I have ever tried. It just plain works... even if the oil/grease stain has been stuck on for a couple washes!

Now that you have washed it multiple times, you have prob SET the stain.... but you should be able to rid it of the stink.

I have 2 sets of clothes for working in..... they are normally worn from 7am to about 10am every saturday and sunday. They are complete with grass stains, diesel stains, paint, oil, and of course some random mystery stains.... They are called work shirts for a reason.... not pretty boy shirts

After I get out of my manicure and petticure and relax the hair curlers.... then I worry about stains..... but that is just me

P.S. The only mani's and petti's i get is when I trim my nails... with a 3 inch air cutting wheel..... and I have a buzz cutt.. left over from my military days... but it sounded good
